It’s been a really bad weekend. Been sick all weekend… :( Oh

well, I’m sure my macrophages are attacking the viruses and are alerting the plasma B cells to tell the helper T cells to

mark the microbes which are then attacked by the macrophages…. and then, we’ve got the memory B cells which remember the

invasion for future times! The immune system rocks! *ahem* I think I’ve had too much AP

Biology…

On Friday night, we saw “Frailty,” which is a Stephen King thriller. It was okay,

although both Maria and I thought it was going to be more “thrilling.” Pretty good plot

though.

Hey, the other day, Ms. Pittenger (my bio teacher) played this song that made me think back to

my childhood years. Guess which song it was? Billy Joel - “We didn’t

start the fire” (Click for an FM quality STREAM of the song… boy, i love this server… you can stream songs and

everything!) from way back in 1989 when we were little 5 year olds in Kindergarten. Remember how that song was played over

and over on the radio? It was a major hit… but if you actually listen to the lyrics, it’s a really deep song… it talks

about all that has happened all around the world over the past several decades. It really makes you think…

Here’s one example… “children of thalydimide” … thalydimide was the SUPER COOL drug that was released

in the 1950s to help women who kept having miscarriages have children. Well, there was a slight problem involved with this..

the children were being born with webbed feet and hands, or were missing limbs, or didn’t have ANY limbs at all. And these

mutations occured after the mother took just 2 pills… devastating effects on the baby. Most of these children are now

grown up, and seeing how they manage is quite inspiring.

Well, yeah, just wanted to talk about that

song. It really shows how much history happens during our lifetime… some of it is good, and some of it is bad… but

hopefully it at least balances out. Oh, and when you think about some of the bigger issues mentioned in this song, you

realize how unimportant your own little issues are. It’s really time for us to put things in perspective with our entire

life.

Have y’all seen the new zDisk with the new progress upload system? So if you have to upload

like a 1MB file, you can watch your file upload instead of wondering if something went wrong.

Well,

that’s about it. Have a great week y’all!

  1. Hope ur immune system in is top-notch shape! (Bio-inundated version of: “Feel better soon, dude!”)

  2. don’t start laying off the sleep. That just makes your sanity go away.

  3. alison, the only bio word you used was immune, and that’s not even that sophistimacated! WE ARE NOT IMPRESSED BY YOUR “INTELLIGEMENCE”!

  4. Let’s not get into a fight here y’all… this is not a good place for one of those. If you want to fight, take it elsewhere…
