Been working for the past two days… it’s been actually sort of fun, though long and boring at the same time! The “sort of fun” part is that the management a couple of the people who are still around have been really nice to me and asking me how college went, etc. I’ve been treated really well, which is really cool. Although everyone at the store is practically new, I don’t feel out of place.. hehehe. which is weird.

The long and boring part? 8 hours of checking people out… that can get tiring after a while.. : )

The Target guests have been mostly nice and understanding, although there is still the group of rude and obnoxious people. One group really annoys me: the cell phone talkers. Here’s what they do. They come to your line, chatting away on their cell phone. You try to say hi or smile at them, and they turn the other direction as if they’re too good for your greeting or something. So you start checking out their stuff, and they just keep talking away on your cell phone. So then when you’re done, they’ll look at you and so “politely” (sarcasm) say, “what’s the total?” So you tell them and they keep chatting away on their cell phone.

So at this point, I’m really annoyed with the rude guest that I decide to get back at them. Here’s what I do… if they pay with a credit card, I wait for them to slide their card and stick it back into their purse. Then, when the card’s in the purse, I ask, “maam, can I please see your credit card and a photo ID?” Ohhh… the look on their face is so amusing. Yeah, that’s how I amuse myself.

It’s really funny though… because when the Target guest comes back another day, he or she will stop their phone conversation (”hey, i gotta go.. i’m checking out.”) before they start putting their items on the belt. Then they act so nice towards me. It’s great.

Ohhh… I don’t know if you heard, but Southern Methodist University has launched a school of video gaming, for students who are “serious about making a career out of fun and games.” Hehehehe.. it sounds cool. You can read details here.
