This is the funniest thing! On Friday, I went to the YMCA for a meeting with my personal trainer, Nancy. If you don’t know, the Y gives one complimentary fitness trainer session so they can set up you up with the Fitlinxx system. Anyway, when I first saw her, I thought to myself, “Hmm.. this lady looks really familiar.” I couldn’t figure out where I had met her before, and it kept lingering in the back of my mind.

Anyway, while we were going through the machines, she asked me if I was working this summer and where I work… I said I worked at the SuperTarget in Frisco. She said, “Oh my gosh.. I go there all the time. I hate going there though cause I can never get out with a purchase for under $200″ .. yeah, I told her that was a likely story, but then I looked at her again and blurted out, “THAT’S WHERE I’VE SEEN YOU! YOU SHOP AT MY SUPERTARGET!” All of a sudden, it clicked for the both of us, and we knew why we both looked familiar to each other.

So yesterday, I was working at SuperTarget, and guess who I checked out? Nancy! Weird, isn’t it?? Hahahaha… But seriously, it feels like I know like half of the women at the YMCA on Preston and Tennyson. They all shop at the Frisco SuperTarget!

Well, anyway, if anyone’s interested, this Fortune article talks about the current state of our economy and why so many white collar workers have lost their jobs. They compare it to the 80s, when the employment rate was at 7.4% rather than the 6.1% it is at now. Anyway, they said that even though now the economy LOOKS like its in a bigger job cut cycle than back in the 80s, the people that were layed off in the 80s were mostly blue collar workers. It even discusses how companies like Ernest & Young are “offshoring” many of its tax stuff to Bangalore, India (where I was born) for processing there. Even CT scans and X-rays are being transmitted to radiologists in Bangalore for analyzing rather than paying $300,000 a year to a radiologist here in the US. Well, anyway, it goes on later to say that even though our economy is slowly improving, generally jobs are the last thing to improve in a recession. It’s a pretty good article.

On a sidenote, lately, there a lot of older men and women that are working at my SuperTarget. I’ve chatted with a bunch of them, and it seems like they were layed off from either one of two places, the infamous Telecom Corridor in Richardson or the gigantic Legacy Park in Plano. I feel sorry for them, but they’re not too worried because they all have stated that they were about to retire anyway… Well, that and they got huge pension plans for working at their companies for so long.

On Friday was my first Government test at CCCC. Let me first state that my professor is awesome. I’m actually interested in what he lectures, unlike some of my history teachers back in high school. Well, I guess he makes his tests super easy, because they were SUPER easy. I hope I made an A.

Boy, was SuperTarget busy yesterday!!!?!?! Everybody was out doing their last minute shopping for Father’s Day, or grocery shopping they had put off for the past few days because of the rain. It was A LOT busier than even some of the winter holiday days… Oh well, I survived.

Now back to SuperTarget again! :)
