Galveston is a city that’s rich in history from the 1800s, and it’s one of the only few Texas cities that’s been able to preserve so much of that history. I’ve made it a personal goal to photograph as much as I can of Galveston history, architecture, and culture.
This weekend, I went around the Strand and Broadway streets and photographed several of the old buildings that I see regularly but knew absolutely nothing about. I have uploaded them to Flickr, with brief comments about each of them.
Take a look at the photos!

So I’ve been reading up on the upcoming Democratic presidential candidates. We have Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and John Edwards.
Now let me state first hand so it’s open and in the clear: John Edwards is your classic scumbag politician. First of all, he is credited for making medical malpractice the issue that it is now, as he loves to sue the life out of doctors. Secondly, he’s the world’s biggest hypocrite. For example, he’s strongly against Wal-Mart and is trying to help its employees form a union (you can decide whether that’s good or bad), but then he uses his political power to coerce Wal-Mart to get him a Playstation 3 on launch. Stupid!
So yeah, I don’t like John Edwards.
I think Hillary Clinton will be a good president, but she is becoming too conservative for my tastes.
Then we have Barack Obama. I agree with almost everything this man says. See this article for his voting record during the past eight years.
So in the end, I think Barack Obama has my vote for 2008. Of course, we’ll have to see how the primaries turn out, but if he makes it as the Democratic presidential candidate, he’ll get my vote.

I went on a quick photo shoot at the Yacht Basin behind my condo. Guess what I saw? Somebody took off the “Honda” logo from their Honda Ridgeline, and replaced it with a Cadillac logo!
Now don’t get me wrong.. I think Cadillac is a great company, and GM has done a great job of reviving the company, but still…. it’s a Honda. Why change the logo?

On June 30th, Microsoft’s new operating system, Windows Vista, will be coming out. I’ve been running a beta of this operating system since August, and it’s heads over heels better than Windows XP. Of course, it’s still no match for Mac OS X, but it’s great when compared to prior versions of Windows.
This time around, Microsoft decided to sell many, many versions of Windows Vista; as a comparsion, Apple only sells one version of its consumer OS, Mac OS X. So how many versions of Windows Vista can you choose from? Well, you can get Windows Vista Home Basic, Windows Vista Home Premium, Windows Vista Business, Windows Vista Ultimate, Windows Vista Ultimate Signature Edition, or an upgrade version of any of those. That’s over 11 versions that you can buy at a retail store!
My question is, “Microsoft, why?!??” Don’t they know that this will confuse the heck out of the average consumer? They must understand that when consumers are given too much choice, they usually walk away empty handed. Does Microsoft want Vista to fail? It sure as heck seems that way.
In the end, if you’re a Windows user, please upgrade to Vista. It’s way more secure than any previous version of Windows. On the other hand, if you need a new computer anyway, just make the upgrade to Mac OS X. You’ll never regret it.
So I have a big exam tomorrow… who thinks I should get back to studying?
